The first Kindle DX’s from pre-order are expected to be delivered tomorrow, on June 11. Amazon is quoting June 11 delivery dates even right now. We will have to check out the initial user reviews once they start coming in tomorrow.

Now that the Kindle DX has been released, Amazon has re-tooled the same leather cover to fit the much larger Kindle DX. Using the same materials applauded by Kindle 2 owners. The leather cover for the Kindle DX is made of a genuine black leather exterior with the Amazon logo in the corner. The inside is a very soft suede leather ensuring never to scratch your Kindle DX.

Again, Amazon fitted the official leather cover with the Amazon Kindle Hinge mechanism. You simply snap your Kindle DX into place, close the cover, and you won’t need to worry about it falling from the cover itself.

This is the most often purchased accessory for Kindle owners, along with the Extended Warranty.

The Kindle DX comes with a 1 year warranty against manufacturer defects. Which is great if you are in a no Dinosaur zone. Otherwise you should get the 2 year extended warranty available from Amazon.

The 2 Year Extended Warranty covers your Kindle for an additional year over the standard warranty, totaling 2 years. Also, if a T-Rex stomps on the screen of your Kindle DX and ruins it, you can get a brand new Kindle DX for free. There is a stipulation. You are only allowed to get a replacement Kindle DX for free 1 time with this warranty.

The normal warranty that comes with the Kindle DX offers no such coverage against T-Rex stompings, drops, coffee spills etc.

The warranty for the Kindle DX is supported by a third party company called Service Net. They have some great ratings for the quality of service they offer and the speed at which they will get you the replacement.

The wait is over! The release date has been given by Amazon and the first scheduled shipments of the new Kindle DX E-Reader will be shipping out on June 10, 2009. Deliveries are on a first come first serve basis.

They are sure to run out soon as they have with their previous Kindle models. What usually happens is that some people buy up a few and put them on E-Bay at an inflated price. The Amazon price is $489.

The New York Times – Latest News

This is the most popular paid blog subscription for the Kindle.  The New York Times is probably the only newspaper in the US that isn’t quickly dying.  They offer intelligent reading, very cool articles, and a huge amount of reading.  Reading their Sunday paper takes an entire day almost.  $1.99/month

Huffington Post

The Huffington Post has quickly become one of the most popular websites on the internet for people to get their news.  This rise to fame can be attributed to their awesome reporting during the Presidential Election of 2008. The News from the Associated Press sent to your Kindle, very cool.  The Associated Press has become the most trusted source of high quality news information and are great at delivery great stories that are never outdated.  If I was on a stranded island, with a Kindle and a coconut, and allowed to only get 1 blog per month on my Kindle, this would be a close second to The Onion. $1.99/month

Due to the nature of the Kindle, everyone who owns one will inherently have some nerdish qualities.  Gizmodo is the perfect nerd-quencher.  You can stay up to date with all the new electronic toys and gadgets and probably get some cool articles about how everyone is jealous of your Kindle. $1.99/month

TechCrunch

The newly redesigned Kindle Reader is being called the Kindle DX.  Not yet available for shipment, however, you can pre-order it.  This is the 3rd model of the Kindle to be released, and each upgrade has been somewhat drastic in terms of design, usability, and memory capacity.

The first big change you will notice about the Kindle DX is the size of the reading screen.  Measuring diagonally across the Kindle DX reading screen is 9.7” inches across, versus the Kindle 2 coming in at 6” inches.

Another very welcoming feature of the Kindle DX is the tilting screen.  The device has a sensor in it that detects if you tilt the Kindle DX on its size to read in landscape view, and the screen will automatically switch for that type of viewing.

Now that people are realizing that the Kindle not only is good for reading books, the memory has been doubled for storage of audio files, pdf files, mp3’s, and even images.

Touted as an “experimental feature”, the Kindle DX can also read the books to you.  The built in software has been said to work quite well, minus sounding somewhat like a robot.

These are the largest differences between the Kindle 2 and the Kindle DX.  Since the Kindle DX is on pre-order right now, who knows when it will be released and first impressions really noted.
