Whispernet Just Keeps Getting Better for the Kindle

Written by Kindle Tank on June 4, 2009 No Comment

The reason the huge changed in maps occurred between January 19, 2008 and February 26, 2009 was that the Kindle 2 was released. Once the Kindle 2 was released Amazon worked very hard with Sprint to extend coverage to much more of the United States.

Theoretically, the Kindle 1 and the Kindle 2 should have very similar ranges. Notice even in the past 3 months the differences between the February 26, 2009 map and the June 3, 2009 map.  It looks like the coverage areas are continuing to improve both for the higher speed EVDO and for reaching areas previously unreachable even by using a low speed uplink.
